Nintendo's Metroid series is probably one of the coolest game series out there. It's got everything from a hot main character, a cool, deep science fiction plot line and the games will keep you busy for hours on end. This is a picture of Samus, the main character, as she appears in her Zero Suit, which is underneath her armor. The background was inspired by an area in Metroid: Other M for the Wii. From Nintendo/Treasure's ridiculously insane and hard as balls shooter comes this picture of Kachi. I approached this one the same way I did my Donkey Kong picture, giving it sort of a comic book appearance by actually drawing the background instead of painting it on a separate layer, and using halftones in the shading.

I was so excited when Nintendo announced Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii that I HAD to finally get around to doing some fanart. This is another piece where I drew part of the background on the same page as the subject matter to give it a sort of comic book appearance, not to mention the halftones in the shading.

I liked it so much I had to color it. Here's Bowser again, from the Super Mario Bros. video games, surrounded by flames in his horrible castle. The line art was done with a Japanese brush pen, while the colors and background were done in Photoshop.
